We Are Engineering House

Engineering House is a Special Interest House at RIT focused on collaboration, innovation, and community. Founded in 1971 and located in the DSP residence hall (formerly NRH), we bring together students who are passionate about engineering, technology, and making things.

We're a tight-knit community that supports each other academically and personally. Whether you need help studying for an exam, want feedback on a project, or just need someone to grab dinner with, there's always someone around.

From beach days and ski trips to hackathons and formal dinners, Engineering House offers a full spectrum of experiences that create lasting friendships and memories throughout your time at RIT.

One of the first things you notice about EHouse is how much the spaces get used. The VAX Workshop is almost always occupied — someone's soldering, cutting, or figuring out why their code isn't working. The theater fills up for movie nights. The study lounge turns into a late-night study session that somehow becomes a 2am hangout. The floor doesn't really quiet down until it has to.

There are traditions that have been running for decades — Mud Tug in the spring, Relay for life all-nighters, the annual formal, blood drives, 5Ks — and then smaller things that just sort of happen, like someone baking at midnight or a spontaneous ski trip coming together in a group chat. That's kind of what EHouse is: a mix of planned traditions and things that happen because people actually want to be around each other.

Engineering House has been around since 1971, and the alumni network reflects that. People come back. They show up to events years later, they reach out when they're hiring, they stay in touch. The friendships that start here have a way of going the distance — which, honestly, is the whole point.

Engineering House provides a unique living and learning experience at RIT. Our members support each other through study sessions, project collaboration, and a shared passion for building, creating, and inventing.

We host events throughout the year from outdoor adventures and concerts to hackathons and formals. Engineering House isn't just where you live; it's where you find your people.
